Pamela

I recently posted ‘4 Tips To Create A Soulfully Storied Home’. One of those tips was to display art in your home that speaks to your soul. The piece of art that speaks to my soul is a copy of David Yarrow’s ‘Pamela’. I never would  have thought that I would have a photograph of Pamela Anderson in my home; however, this photograph has a story…….

In November I travelled with my family to Costa Rica. We didn’t luck out with the weather, but I did experience a series of synchronicities on this trip that I have a hard time attributing to luck. Synchronicities are just that - when seemingly unrelated events coincide in improbable ways and have some sort of significance for you.

One of those synchronicities started when I was talking to my sister. I called to tell her about an energy healing session I just had (given the unprecedented rains I was trying to find something to do; this was a new experience for me). After telling her about the session she said to me she had a vivid dream the night before about her and I in Cassis, France. She said it was such a strong dream and said she thought we needed to go there. I didn’t think much of it; I had never heard of Cassis before.

The next morning my daughter and I were meant to go on a tour of a chocolate factory, but I misjudged the time and we ended up missing our transportation. We went back to the lobby and were hanging around trying to think of something to do. While pondering our plan for the day I noticed out of the corner of my eye a coffee table book by David Yarrow. Ordinarily, it probably wouldn’t have caught my attention; however, my husband and I were in Denver a few months before and just happened to pop into an art gallery that was displaying his photography. I opened the book and started thumbing through the photographs. One of the photographs caught my eye; it was a photograph of Pamela Anderson. I’m not sure why it caught my eye. Perhaps it had to do with the energy session I had the day before. In that session the energy therapist talked about the divine feminine and here in front of me was Pamela Anderson - a modern day goddess - being worshipped by those around her. Whatever the reason, I decided to flip to the back of the book to read more about the ‘behinds the scene’ of some of these images. When I flipped to the description of  ‘Pamela’  I read,

“..... For that we needed a cast, a styling and a location that complemented each other and collectively evoked a mood. We found the street in Cassis - a beautiful village just east of Marseille….”

Cassis? I had never heard of this beautiful village until the day before when my sister brought it up saying we needed to go there. Now I’m reading about it in a photography book of a photographer I had only heard about two months earlier? Psychiatrist Carl Jung believed synchronicities like these are evidence of a unifying consciousness at play in the universe, creating physical manifestations of what's happening in our psyche.

As a gift for Christmas my sister gave me a copy of the Pamela print. I framed it and hung it front and centre in my office. Each day I look at it and am reminded that there just might be a greater universal force at play. The photograph is a visual affirmation to my soul to continue to create and listen, and that if I do I may be led by some greater creative force.

So, just like Santiago in The Alchemist, who listened and was led on an incredible journey of self-discovery, I have listened and booked a trip to Cassis, France. Coming/going July 2025 - follow along on Instagram (@mad.denda) to see what I discover!
